Differences between Overlays and Self-Leveling Concrete Underlayment
Although the process to install a concrete underlay is very similar to tha of a Concrete Overlay, they are vastly different in their uses. The concrete overlay is a finished floor product whereas the self-leveling underlayment provides a temporary working surface or sub-floor which will receive a finsihed flooring system on top of it. There are a few more differences as well:
The style of mix used for the floor/Subfloor.
A Concrete Overlay would have more aggregate involved while an Underlay has no aggregate in its mix.
Underlays do not get polished.
